Kapelle van Haskerdijken, Haskerdijken
IN CONTACT WITH
Once lonely in the field, nowadays sandwiched between railroad tracks and a dual carriageway, the Kapelle van Haskerdijken is still standing. From 19 to 23 September 2018, the house of God will be the stage for the Frisian open-air opera Dodo fan Haska. The libretto was written by Eppie Dam and the music is by Gerben van der Veen. All five performances start at 8:00 pm.
The piece takes us back to the 13th century, when the main character settled in the Haskerlanden. Dodo was a clergyman, a man with a mission. He was known for his great pastoral gifts. He helped to work the land and with the construction of dikes. Dodo was also just a man, more so than he would have liked. He sought refuge in asceticism to fight against his temptations. Ironically, he gets visited by the Devil when in the house of God.
Brought to you by, amongst others, residents, actors, musicians and singers from Haskerdijken and the area. Libretto: Eppie Dam, composition: Gerben van der Veen, director: Romke Gabe Draaijer.
