Is love stronger than water?
The fluyt, a commercial sailing ship, is journeying towards Riga. Second mate Wiebe Aukesz is on board. His fiancée Jildous waits at home in Hindeloopen. A lovely story from wedding to funeral, set during the time of the thriving shipping trade from the port of Hindeloopen.
A performance in the Hindeloopen language and staged in authentic costumes by the local community. Folklore, public entertainment, painting, fabric and a winter scene in various locations in the town that is a lovely backdrop in itself, with all its small streets, beautiful gaslights, alleys, canals, historic homes and painted living rooms.
In order to relive the true voyage of the fluyt ship, a Russian Orthodox choir from Narva, Estonia will be singing.
